
The Access To Democracy (A2D) website respects its users privacy and protects their personal data. At all stages this protection is subject to the Greek Data Protection Law N2472/97.
After the provisions of the above Law, A2D staff, board members, cooperating attorneys, interns, volunteers and consultants, are bound by law or contract to keep information they receive as part of their assistance or work to A2D, confidential.
In the case when you, the A2D website user, decide to click on «Remember Me» or other similar functionality «cookies» will be used.
Where «cookie» is mentionned it means a small data file that enables web servers to «identify» visitors each time they visit a website that uses this technology: the site adds a cookie to the browser that includes an identifying number, which is then stored on the hard drive.
The A2D server may record the numerical Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using, the browser software and operating system you use and the date and time you access our site.
Any information gathered is done in accordance to the number 4 Provision of the Greek Data Protection Law N2472/97 and is always used, when used, for the sole purpose to measure the number of visitors to different sections of the site, to diagnose and correct system errors as well as to improve the website. At any case, we don't connect this information to your name or identity and none of the above information will be subject, by A2D staff of selling, renting or echanging with anyone without your prior consent and with the only exception as it is compelled by the prior mentionned law.
A2D will independently always object to overly broad requests for access to information about its website users.
The only case where we might disclose your information is when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is required by law and is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, or the rights or property of our users.
To the above case should be added the exchange of information with other companies, authorities and organisations for fraud protection purposes
If such a case we will attempt to provide you with notice (unless we are prohibited) that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will do so by attempting to email you, if you have given us an email address, or by postal mail if you have entered a postal address. If you do not challenge the disclosure request, we may be legally required to turn over your information, as required by provision 11 of the Greek Data Protection Law N2472/97.
